About
About the Artist
Through her paintings, Sioban Scanlon delves into the theme of intimacy, drawing inspiration from the raw beauty of nature. Her journey as an artist began in the countryside outside of Aix-en-Provence, where she studied at L'Université Américain d'Aix-en-Provence. There, she learned to observe and interpret the world through representation and abstraction. This foundation has influenced her work ever since. In her paintings, Scanlon aims to capture the elegance and visceral beauty of the natural world, bringing a sense of joy and revelation to her collectors.
Scanlon lives and works in San Anselmo, California. In recent years, Scanlon has had the opportunity to study with accomplished contemporary artists such as Carol Lefkowitz, Kathleen Dunphy, and Dean Fisher. Her work has been accepted into the 2022 National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society Associate Member Exhibition and was recently featured in a group exhibition for Marin Open Studios at Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross, California. Her paintings can be found in private collections across the United States.
